I enjoy reading Carolyn Faulkner's stories but some are better than others. What I need is a story with a beginning, middle and HEA. I would also like the spanking and characters to make sense to me. Spanking just for a spanking scene is boring. She said "No" spank, very weak and ridiculous. I find for me that Carolyn's books are hit or miss for me. Many of her books I read and than delete when done. I'm always looking for her gem.
Books that I love are The unrequited Dom, A hard man...is good to find, a good man & Rod of correction. These are some of her books that I can re-read of the years, my favorites.
One thing that bothered me was that Dodge rescued Marissa from the snow bank in Chapter One, and at the beginning of Chapter two, Marissa was holding a Lexan paddle.
That was really confusing. I thought I had missed something. To go from just meeting to hesitating about bringing Dodge the paddle...crazy. I reread chapter 1 because I though the book was missing pages of I had somehow overlooked them starting a relationship.
Also, what happened to consent? Did I miss that part too? If Marissa agreed to this lifestyle, the writer needs to make it more apparent.
The last thing, is it felt to me like Dodge was walking a very fine line between domestic discipline and abuse. While reading this book, it felt more like Dodge enjoyed the spankings more for th action of spanking rather than it being any type of corrective action. The excuse of correcting Marissa's behavior was just that...so he would have a reason to spank her.
Dodge seemed to take over her life. It didn't seem like she submitted to him, but more like it wasn't her decision. She just went along with everything.
Despite the things I noted above, this was not a bad book. I do feel conflicted, but I would recommend you read it for yourself.

I was a bit confused when they went from meeting in chapter one, to a full out spanking in chapter two. I guessed it was jumping ahead and then it would flash back, and I really, really wanted to find out how they got to that point. So, I kept reading.
Dodge is everything you want in a dom guy—chivalrous, rule-abiding, protective. Rissa is a brat, but not one that you start to detest because its all so unbelievable. I’ve had crabby days on my period, hated loading my car up with winter supplies, and preferred cute shoes to sensible ones myself!
The books ends a little short—in that I wanted it to go on, and I wanted one last spanking, darn it. I recommend this book, just have ice water to read it ready.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Dodge & Marissa proved opposites do attract. I didn't want the story to end.
Abusive relationship recast as "sexy." No safe words, she is not allowed to say no, he really hurts her, and then they have unfulfilling (for her) sex. Gross, gross, gross, gross. There is so much wrong with this relationship dynamic, I don't even know where to begin. Skip it if you are looking for erotica. Read it if you like stories of abused women. This book depressed me.
Oh my, I fell in love with this book from the very beginning. Thanks for a great read. I love spanking stories. Please keep them coming.
